Wing Prints

WING PRINTS

Threw some bread on the window sill
Birds could come and eat their fill:
Gone next morning save couple of lumps.
Over the snow-covered sill and its bumps
Were footprints and some other marks:
Bread had frozen to the sill and the larks
Trying to drag it out had pulled harder,
Using their wings to fill their larder.
Designed for flight, these birds were clever:
Dig in your wings - it’ll act like a lever.
Near the frozen snow-bread were imprints -
My very first sight of lark wing prints

Enjoyed reading this one this morn..It is interesting what those feathered friends can figure out to do to take that food...One time I saw a crow at a busy intersection getting pecans from under a tree and placing on the road for a car to run over then he would go when the light turned red and get the cracked meat..Very clever but very dangerous..Sara
