Winds of My Childhood

Winds of my childhood

Oh, how I was truly happy
With dirt in my nails
Grass between my toes
Sunlight in my eyes,
Nothing could make this a horrible day.

A swamp fragrance
Fills my nostrils,
A smile cracks among
My country beaten face.
