Willow Weep For Me
A weeping Willow tree
Whined to a mighty Oak
I am out of breath
I feel so sad
I think I'm going to choke.
I heard a whisper in the breeze,
That this could be our last day.
Many of our beautiful trees
Will be chopped down
To build another highway.
How does Mother Nature feel?
Would she think this fair?
To part of her forest seal,
By laying tarmacadam there,
So that every type of vehicle
Be it big or small
Will crush the roots of the trees
That once stood proud and tall.
Nature is a strong force,
That humans can't control,
Except, of course
When designing highways,
Interfere with nature, and take their toll.
