Will You Remember Me?

When some other young man, in days yet to come,
draws you to his racing breast,
when passions blaze and sense is numb,
and when your slender frame is pressed
so close to him, so longingly –
    will you have forgotten me?

When you recall, in some far-off age,
    our tenderness, down wasted years,
will you glance upon this page?
And will you weep regretful tears?
Will failing eyes still strive to see
    my vague and faded memory?

With darkness falling, night begun,
    will you struggle to forget
that in those days when we were young,
this was the hour we always met?
And will a corner of your heart still be
    preserved for nobody but me?
