Will Work For Comments

How many times have you seen someone
Holding up one of those signs
"Out of work, will work for food"
I just can't count the times

Sometimes, they're legitimate
And you can really feel their need
Then there's those who play our emotion
Whose purpose is based on greed

I don't mind helping someone
Who's a little down on luck
It makes me feel good inside
To share a couple of bucks

You never know what good you do
When you're giving with your heart
To help someone back on their feet
Could mean a brand new start

Now, that I have your attention
There's something I need to ask
Don't worry, it's nothing major
It's really a simple task

I'm somewhat of a starving poet
With no major writing events
No, I'm not asking for money
"I'll work for your comments"

I hope you don't take me seriously
You know, I'm only kidding
But to end this poem just like this
I thought was only fitting

yep, those people with the signs, when i was working as a home health nurse and rode all up and down I75 I would see the same people working different exits on different days. I heard they made good money doing that. 300 dollars a day.

Giving is good for the soul, sharing for the heart, comments flow freely whether asked or not, but sweetly chosen words encourage the heart! Nice to read to read your work Larry, keep it coming! Jeralynn
