Notes About The Poem

“In the dream’s deepest corridor
every contradiction is a doorway
step through enough of them
and you find a great forest growing at 5,980 fathoms.”

- Poet

=======

Wicking Willow Wood

polysemy
protrudes, prodding power
letting chiasma
churn and curdle
ply poet-marriage:

an anankean lockless key—a dower
set upon a
dorseless tower

I eat my crow,
drowned in chowder

time sealed in
the wicking willow wood

—CODA—

I don’t want to
be solved

I want to be
inhabited

working in
dream-logic
surrealist
disjunctive fissures

places where
contradictions coexist

that is—
precisely
pointless

I especially liked that coda, Daniel. A sophisticated poem.

Dear Andrea, thank you so much. I’m grateful you felt the coda land, it’s the hinge the whole piece turns on. Your encouragement means a lot to me. Blessings, Daniel

It’s beautiful almost impenetrable wordplay on a canvas of poetry! Precisely pointless! Nice to meet you! M.

Dear Margarita, what a lovely thing to say. I’m glad the wordplay felt rich rather than opaque, “precisely pointless” made me smile seeing you repeat it. It was wonderful to meet you, and thank you for reading so generously. Blessings, Daniel

A piercing poem trying to come to grips with self and Self simultaneously. A powerful second stanza saying it all. Exquisite allusion in third stanza, DHR. Of course it is impossible for one soul to inhabit another, since Godforce created each sovereign- except for binary stars. It is only the ego that wants to be inhabited so that it can then reject & know that it is an illusion created by itself. Well done, Sir Poet. X.

Dear Ghairo, your reflections always open new chambers in the work. I appreciate how deeply you read the self/Self tension and the spiritual dimension. Your insight about sovereignty and ego is insightful. Thank you for this thoughtful engagement, truly. Blessings, Daniel

Dear Empress, your words touch me. I love that the coda had insight into your own experience of listening versus solving; that’s exactly the space the poem tries to inhabit. Your empathy and depth shine through every comment you leave. Your kindness is a light. I’m honored the quote in the notes offered comfort, that means more than anything. You always read with such heart and intuition. Sending you gratitude and bright energy in return. Blessings, Daniel

Wow poetic philosopher, psychologist with a heart of empathy, dear Daniel, your words hit home for me and left me feeling so much. I really resonate with the words “ I don’t want to be solved I want to be inhabited working in dream-logic surrealist disjunctive fissures” wow! But sometimes as a goal oriented person, I tend to give solutions, unaware of how sometimes, they dont need fixing, but just listening and understanding! Everything you write has depth! And this poem made me feel so much!

This is quite extraordinary Daniel, reads like a law the universe laid down upon creation, love the allusion to Ananke, even the Gods themselves were powerless to fight her will and inevitability, all wrapped up within the pointless perfect ending, got to be a fave all day long, cheers David

Hello David, your comment is a gift. I’m delighted you caught the Ananke line, her inevitability felt right for the poem’s message. Your “pointless perfect ending” made me grin. Thank you for the fave and for reading with such mythic acuity. Blessings, Daniel

Dearest Daniel, what a beautiful, layered poem. Your wordplay is rich and inviting, letting meanings shift and breathe. The CODA is especially moving — “I want to be inhabited” lingers so gently. Thank you for sharing something so thoughtful, surreal, and sincere. It stays with me. With love and respect always, Anne
