Why?'s To Wise? My Part In All This
How could they tell me such truthful things,
Upsetting my skewed perception?
Couldn’t they see, life was stacked against me
Three minutes before conception?
I was waiting for joy to happen to me
Amid all the crises and hooplas,
Never aware of the sad, but true, fact that
Wherever I went, there I was.
Then I got with some folks who showed me the deal
And began to work on my own silly fear.
I stopped looking at you, and went deep within me,
And got willing, and honest, and sincere.
I started to realize my happiness is mine
To shape and indulge as I plan.
It’s all up to me, if it is to be,
‘Cause wherever I’m at, there I am.
So if you catch me grinning for no worthy reason,
Or singing as I walk the grocery aisles,
Or making silly faces at children on busses,
Or wearing age inappropriate styles,
Or sitting real happy, watching the world,
With joy sitting right next to me,
Come sit for a spell, I’ve got stories to tell,
For wherever I go, there I’ll be.
