Yes, this is autobiographical...

Why won't the tears come Why won't they fall Did our life together Mean nothing at all Our love was in bloom Wedding in June A picture-perfect affair Magic in the air Envisioning a new life in the Promised Land Realizing shared dreams Milk and honey, sprinkled with sand Changed countries so hopeful Lost our shirts and came back Fought so hard to regain All that we lacked Two children we raised Whom we lavished with praise Their every good deed These blessed of our seed... Why won't the tears come Why won't they fall Did our life together Mean nothing at all Somewhere, somehow The magic abated No tears ever flow Once you know it's ill-fated

Each and every verse of your moving poem found its way into my heart, Gershon. A sadly beautiful outpouring of emotions. Your last two lines are a fitting ‘coming to terms with’ finale for your poignant piece. Warmest wishes always my wonderful friend.. ~Susan

Sad and moving poem Gershon. As usual wonderfully structured. Hope all is well. RT

Wow. Deeply profound. There are no words I can add to this one. I do hope it has a happy ending eventually; many do.
