Why the Willow Weeps

why the willow weeps

please tell me why the willow weeps
why does he hide the secret he keeps
why is he standing there so all alone
why did the sparrow make him her home
the sparrow stopped by and she told me why
her song was so sweet like a lullabye
his branches so heavy the burden so great
he wanted to fly but that's not his fate
so when she perched upon this great tree
she realized the value of being free
she is so small while he stands like a tower
she's just a bird and him more like a flower
she often stopped by just to talk and to rest
she loved him so much that she made her nest
all nestled and warm while out of the sun
they're not the same and he's still the one
they'll never be family only just friends
never knowing the bond the birth of kids sends
and so fate has now made them both realize
just how cruel life is and that's why he cries
