Why I Write Too Many Poems Like This

I guess I never grew up. I'm not mature.
Anyway, why'd I wanna do that fur?
My mom called me smart aleck so many times,
I'd be rich if, for each one, I had dimes.
Want someone to do something, just say "don't".
It may be dumb, but you can't tell me they won't.

clever and humorous. I was a quiet sometimes witty type of smart aleck growing up. Once my mother said, "Settle down or I'm gonna box your ears!" To which I regretfully replied, "And where are you going to send them?" Thankfully, I matured...but my stepdaughter must have my genes! :-)

thanks Sara. haha, that's a good one. I wonder if you got your ears boxed for saying it. I forgot about that expression (box your ears). I can't remember if it was my grandmother, mother, or one of my teachers that said that, but it was once common.
