Why I Failed
Someone told to be
a poet one needs to learn the
skill from a Guru.
After lot of search
joined a poetry writing school
to learn the ways.
The old teacher tried
hard to make us understand
the process to write.
After three days of
theory classes, he explained how
to write a Senryu.
Showed a couple of
examples and asked us to
try for one Senryu.
Specifically
told you have two days time to
complete home task.
Sincerely spent
time to think about writing
my First Senryu poem.
After two days of
sleepless nights succeeded writing
my first Senryu poem.
Monday evening
poetry class I was the last
student to submit.
Teacher took my poem
read it once then cleaned the specs
looked at me again.
Said you need not to
come from tomorrow. Writing
poem is not your job.
Following was my first Senryu:
Conceptualising
a theme for poetry writing
is not child's play.
Still searching a school.
In absence of a guru,
failed to become poet
