Why Do Some People Choose Negativity

Why do some Spirits haunt the Shade —
When Morning floods the Hill —
And cling unto a withered Thought
As though it were a Will —

They sip from Cups of former Storms —
Though Wells of Light run near —
And wrap their Hearts in winter Words
To armor them from Fear —

For Hope requires a tender Strength —
A Courage soft — and slow —
To mend oneself in quiet Rooms
Where only Truth may go —

Yet those who dare repair their Flame
Though small — and scarcely bright —
Become a Lantern for the Road
Of many lost in Night —

So mend the Glass — and lift the Wick —
Let gentler Fires start —
For mended Souls — though once in Dark —
Bring Sunrise to the Heart.
