Why Do I Feel So High

Why do I feel so high
Well I live up in the sky
Amongst the stars and moon I love
Listen awhile and I’ll tell you why

On waking each day I enjoy gazing out
Views I behold make me scream and shout
It’s such a joy living way up high
So safe and secure no need to go out

I watch the birds as they pass me by
Wishing my wings would open and fly
I would love to soar above the clouds
Though too risky methinks, as I might die

To watch the sunrise is a daily miracle
And that is why I am waxing lyrical
For each day is different the colour and the hue
Of the newly risen sun so spherical

To witness the full moon in all of its glory
Ever changing, the moon so transitory
As I view through binoculars the surface I see
Is there life on the moon, but that’s another story

The reason I’m living right up in the sky
Is my penthouse apartment, how lucky am I
With balconies facing in every direction
I catch the first snowflake when it floats from up high

Feeling the moisture from the very first raindrop
As it lands on my head with a wonderful kerplop
Though seagulls with an upset tum are not a welcome sight
So I sit beneath my parasol or else I’ll cop the lot

Your poet's heart rings through in this line, Ann: "For each day is different the colour and the hue Of the newly risen sun so spherical." Well written. I picture you sitting on a balcony way up high as you write.

Oh thank you for those kind words Caren. Yes I love being 'up in the sky' and witness many stunning sunrises and sunsets, each one unique. And when the full moon appears I could watch it for hours - so mesmerizing... Wishing you many more sunrises Caren x
