Why Do I Do What I Do

Can’t give you any reasons, can’t think of any rhymes
Not getting any easier to stay between the lines
I’ve got lots of excuses so I’ll be justified
Someday my heart will tell me how often I have lied

Why do I do what I do?

So many times it happens, I act and then regret
So many things occurring I just cannot accept
One day I might have answers, perhaps I’ll never know
Just have to learn the lessons but it all comes too slow

Why do I do what I do?

So analyze the queries and agonize each day
It’s no surprise the theories won’t chase the doubts away
I make believe I’m okay but that’s naïve, I know
For I perceive that someday, someway I still need to grow.

Why do I do what I do?

They say it takes a lifetime to finally understand
But I’m all out of patience ‘cause it’s all out of hand
So, show me which direction and I will turn my heart
I’ll step into the future and play a brand new part.

Why do I do what I do?
