Why Did'Nt You Tell Me

yesterday while sitting in my spot
a man sat next to me who smoked alot
indeed the building was smoke free and secure
but he had an odor of cigarettes thats for sure
i thought to myself does he have the ash tray on his person
could he have been smoking behind a curtian
was this what i was like when i smoked too
tell me the truth is this true

Hi John, I know we smelled, my clothes, hair et all. Finally got off the danged things after 40 years. I wasn't a heavy smoker but it does its share of damage. Great meaning in your verse.

You can smell the smoke off a smoker because there clothes reek with odor. I never did smoke so never had to worry about smell. Good poem. love phyl

John, any nonsmoker can smell the lingering scent of tobacco on someone else. Indeed, smokers are like walking ash trays, but it's a hard habit to kick. My brother got upset when my sister's husband complained about the tobacco scent while my father lay dying. Not good timing and my brother never said anything to him, but he did resent the comments. What happened to the rest of your poems? Are you cleaning house? Love you, Carolyn

yep, I'm afraid we all did, John. Amazing isn't it that we could not smell it ourselves? Interesting thought to bring to our attention.
