WHO’S THE BOSS

Dear muse, my brain
Has gone so mushy,
Pray come take part,
Please do not refrain,
Want to write a poem
That’s gushy.

My paper white and blank,
My thoughts no spark,
My mind once was a thinking tank,
Now buried deep and dark.

Imagination crushed,
Letters prefer to hide and seek,
Words that flash by, dashed,
My muse the culprit, am I too meek?

My inclination to write gone,
I think I must curl up and die,
Can’t even write a song,
Must find a far far place to cry.

Word got out I was unhappy,
Another muse phones me,
Says she alone takes any credit,
No thank-you don’t you see,
Where would be my merit?

I heard a far faint voice,
I ‘ll never leave you, I’m no fake,
It was the only choice,
I’m part of you and you part of me,
I just needed a break.

So, let’s get to work,
I think you’ve done quite well,
Yesterday I overheard,
Someone say you’re swell.

Together we’re a team,
A thought just crossed my mind,
It’s sometimes good to let
Off steam,
First lets wine and dine,
And then a dreamy subject find.

Dear Jennifer, it seems you've showed your muse who's the boss. I'm smiling at that thought. I know words like to drift and tangle, yet, they refuse to stay and linger. Oh, they will, when the time is right. You've created a masterpiece here with your words, my dear friend. Your muse is back and so are you. So wonderful, indeed. Sending hugs your way. :) Brandy

Well, these muses sure are flaky and frivolous, leaving you high and dry like that. I'd fire her! :) gw

Wine and dine, then find a dreamy subject! Sometimes our brain won’t muse, shut off from one side of the brain or the other.

Morning Jennifer! I had the same problem and same talks with muses over past few months. Had to get my help from the Hooy Spirit. Glad you kept trying. Never stop. We need your words, as does the world. Suberb penning. Hugs!

Fear not, Jennifer, I get blocked on an almost annual basis (I’m trying to claw myself free right now, as it happens). Sooner or later, the mist clears and you write something special… and yet each block seems like it will never end. Fact is… you wrote this and it’s spot on…. So your inspiration has merely gone for a stroll. Just leave the door ajar so it can sneak back in when you’re not looking. Terry.

Jennifer, So happy to arrive at your poem! Fret not. You are alive and as creative as ever . Allowing the nuances of your emotions and struggles through are definitely part of the journey. I am always amazed at your fertile creative brain and heart. You always inspire me . There is a lot of collective grief in the world right now . Taking a big inhale and exhale and moments of pause help . I too have been removed and missing writing . Just finally did write one ! Sending love and hugs Susan

Jennifer, I love poems about writing and inspiration. It's not always easy to understand what triggers our imagination. However, just writing a poem on the subject enlightens and a-muses us all. Thanks for all your wisdom and what you do for this site! Smiles!!

Jennifer your Muse just needs to recharge a little bit. A little rest will make things right. Patience brings knowledge... Well written Dear and a bit humorous. Hugs...

You definitely Jennifer, even when our muses go on walkabout, there's always inspiration to be found. Hope you're keeping well, I'm just back from Spain. Since I had my op I'm never at home. Tom

What a fun and creative write with a happy ending even though it was looking a bit hopeless. Hopefully our muse goes no further than our shadow.
