Who You Are

Just like the stalk
   Jack grew out of beans,
You are the product
   of mom and dad's genes.

There's family who've passed
   whom you never knew.
Yet, some of their genes
   are also in you.

So, from family and God
  your seed got it's start,
And all of their love
  lives on in your heart.

Light, feathery --- yet profoundly true. Love the rhythm and flow. ~ Gershon

Nicely penned, Sheri. Several years ago I decided to trace my family tree to find out who I was. I learned many interesting facts about my ancestors but still really don't know who they were as people. This is one of the reasons I started writing so generations from now when my descendants read my poetry, they will have a sense of who I was as a person. Hugs, John

Thankyou as that is exactly what I like about having this site too. I would love to become a premium member but don't belong to either PayPal or the other and really don't want to hook it up to my existing bank account. Haven't had the incentive to open a new one just for a PayPal account I won't really use but for this. Wish I could just use my card. Ty

An interesting poem; something I do not often think about and yet totally true!

Thankyou as I have been going through old pictures of my family and that's partly why it came to mind. Lol
