Who Will Come For Me?
Who Will Come For Me?
I watch him nod his head in agreement
With two fingers up
So much energy today
So much love in his eyes
He scratched his head in confusion
What did I forget to do?
Ah yes, it is food, I forgot to eat
He swallowed as he did so many times before
There is someone in the corner for whom he speaks
The conversation is real
But who is it that he sees
He buzzes around like it was his last
Who would have thought the one in the corner
Was the angel that would come for his soul
To tell him, only two weeks more
My sister and I he pointed to with mere words
I will save you a place up there
I will welcome you with arms wide open
He kissed mom and held her chin in his hand
Come dance with me his body motioned
He lay upon his bed one last time
Never to rise again.
