Who Is the Poet

Who is the poet?
the one who writes?
the clever use of words or rythm?
I say it is none of these
It is a deeper perception of life
An expression of emotions
reaching deeper than most
make the reader feel something
make me cry, make me happy
hurt me, make me ponder
share it with me, let me burden it
maybe i feel it too
show me how i feel
share it together
we are all alone
until we feel it together
in that moment art is born
a unity of hearts
reaching out and feeling it
we are one for a moment
the pain, the love, the lonliness
we all just want others to feel us
we are not alone when we feel it together

Michael, this is an amazing explaination of what/who a poet/poetry is meant to be. I love it! Lay

Poetic expressions are from the interior of one's soul... my philosophy in life is to put God first in everything before I tackle an issue or problem.. trying to give the many readers on soup who like spiritual poetry reflections something to think about on this holy day when Jesus was born... I write on many themes.. I appreciate your comments and as a new poet on Soup I welcome u and look forward to reading your poetry also... if u return to this poem after others have commented u will see...

Are you in pain that you need to share--well post it on soup and we'll be there--we probably can top it with pain deep within--read some of my tearjerkers then you'll just begin. Sara
