Who Is My Neighbour

In this technological age
We don't trust easily
We take our own sweet time to gauge
Our neighbors icily

But if we get a friend request
On Facebook, Instagram
We accept it without protest
What a pretensive sham!

Gone are the days when we would help
A fellow in distress
Now we click pictures while he yelps
In pain and dire duress

Where has our humanity gone?
Our sense of friendly trust?
Who will help us if we're withdrawn?
Values, we must adjust.

Much has changed. Some is for the good but a lot has become worse. Good one.

Jo, you are really good at articulating your opinions. Your poetry serves as an excellent reminder of how we need to behave toward our fellow beings.

You convey your thoughts very well Jo. Personlly, I don't do social media. It seems I too have trust issues. Good luck dear.

Unfortunately, we think about ourselves more. Pity. Great poem.

I loved this, however is sad I have become suspicious of friend requests, your poem is a good reminder how we should act to our fellow humans :)
