Who Is In the Know Who Is In the Loop

Who is in the know? Who is in the loop?
I always keep my mouth shut, so they give me every scoop.
Do you know a thing? Many ask me, to and fro.
Not a thing, I lie, knowing they will never know.

They are catching on and run to ask me quick.
Who is doing what, who carries the biggest stick?
I know but keep it quiet. It’s not their business after all.
Sometimes in May I know what others learn at the end of fall.

Who is in the know? Who is in the loop?
I run away from them, pretending I do not have the scoop.
I act wide eye, pretending innocence, and that I do not know
They all share their secrets. I believe it will always remain so.

Of course, there was a time when I knew all the secrets and was bound to keep them confidential. Not so much now. I don't know anything! I like it that way, too.
