Who Are Actually Rich

Who Is Actually Rich?

By Elton Camp

How can the wealthy be identified?
To learn who they are, I have tried

There are signs I thought would tell
Who it is that’s really doing quite well

A mansion with five thousand square feet
Only the rich can accomplish that feat

I also look at the place it’s located
Especially if in a community gated

Brand new cars bought most every year
It’s only for the very prosperous, I hear

And they don’t accept just any old sedan
It’s Lexus, Mercedes or Caddy they demand

The rich eat out at an expensive place
The counter at McDonald’s never face

But an important thing I did forget
For all that, they’re deeply in debt

It was then that an epiphany I got
I am the one rich and they are not

Robert, I like nice things also and have a large house in a nice neighborhood, cars (yes, even including a Mercedes), and we like to eat out and not at Mickey D's. BUT we are totally debt free and that has become code for "rich." By other measures, we would be only "middle class." Economic times are changing. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
