Whizzing Stars

look into the midnight sky
see the stars go whizzing by

lay your head upon the earth
the very place of your birth

for it shall always be your home
no matter how far you roam

the day will come when we will leave
and when it does you shall believe

that where you go will be better
and if so grab a sweater

for in all the cold lonely nights
you’ll be distant from the fights

of man and beast that shall be one
no good will come once war is done

for the hate they will inflict
is no better than the conflict

so i want you to remember
the hate, then blow out the ember

so when the stars do go whizzing by
on yourself you can rely

to cause no pain, sorrow or hurt
the ember itself will have to revert
