Whispers of Yesterday

Whispers of forgiveness
Too often go unheard
While sentimental offerings
Somehow seem obsurd

Turn around and walk away
Leave behind the past
A love that's never meant to be
Can never really last

Pretend it never happened
Just like we never met
Keep the borrowed memories
Until we both forget

Soon enough this love we had
Will simply pass away
Like a vapor in the wind
Or whispers of yesterday
