Notes About The Poem

A Whisper....Can speak volumes!

Whisper

It was by chance the two of them met that day
He never thought that he could ever feel that way
Now her father didn't like him, so they'd wait 'til after dark
He'd tap on her bedroom window, and from somewhere in her heart

Chorus:
She heard a whisper, telling her to run away with him
Just a little whisper, heard only by the two of them
Their hearts beat with a thunder, soft as that lover's moon
It's funny how the earth can move....with a whisper

When he felt sure about what he felt, he ran downtown
'Walked through the door of a jewelry store and put his money down
Then came the night when the time was right...he could hardly breathe
Teardrops welled up in her eyes...when she saw the ring

Repeat chorus:

Bridge:
That was fifty years ago tonight
And love still sparkles in their eyes
He'll kiss her cheek and hold her near
And oh so tenderly...they'll hear.....
A whisper.....
