Whilst You Sleep

Scented rose hitched a ride on the balm of the breeze, Suckled on honey that swept through her hair; And she blinked for an instant, her eyes in a dream, A vision of wonder, so fabled and fair. In a shearing of shadows cut down from the sky, A cloak draping edges set luscious and white, Shone with a head tilt, and sweet laughter chimed And the stars dimmed beside her and faded in night. Some place between beauty and something far more, Undefined, undescribed, undeniably rare, She lies and then rises, allures the earth, Suckled on honey that swept through her hair.
