Which Way
Caught between the branches
Lifted past the din
Looking for an exit
Wondering how he made it in
Onward, outward though the smoke
Leaping quickly lest he choke
Front side, back side, all the same
Through the splatter of the rain
Out into the forest glen
To join the clearing with a hen
I wondered where the fish all went
The river didn’t pay the rent
Sniffing at the forest breeze
He couldn’t see what made him sneeze
Fabricated without hands
Dwelling with their friends in stands
He’s only knowing but not growing
Did he plan the grass he’s mowing?
He sailed on past through yesterday
Going onward but which way?
