I went on a search for "a god" many years ago.  Reading much and traveling to the Mountains of India.  Upon my return a mentor of mine asked me:  "Did you find Him?".  My reply: "NO!".  His retort: "Probably because you didn't bring Him with you."  My reply.....")((*&^%&^%$(&%^&*(*&^%89 and EXPLETIVES DELETED"))

Hidden in the lies the preachers tell Gagging on the brimstone stench of hell The words He spoke back then Have different meanings now The idols now - kids drawings A purple, haloed cow. The repetition of the mantra Deadens mind and soul Deepening the question “How will it make us whole?” “Suffer the little children…” I believe they’ve had enough And with their overt actions Are calling Satan’s bluff. Hidden in the darkness, lurking in the past Hoping for a savior that may not come again While searching for a distant god They never look within. ©8/21/2022 *paraphrase of a line from the movie The Ten Commandments Where’s is God hiding Poetry Contest

An intriguing poem, John. I enjoyed your introduction, and I also thought your line "While searching for a distant god They never look within," was particularly good.

Milton, thanks for stopping to read and comment. I often ponder the question: "What if God is ALL OF US.".
