Where We Are

Did you ever feel the world go black?
Dream a dream of endless pain
to a place to which you won't go back?
An endless time of crying rain
the clouds don't seem to fade.

Dream this dream a million times,
waking in a turmoil of aching,
screaming from the million chimes
of the feeling of a heart breaking,
wishing for a mere physical pain.

Take it away, “make it stop,”
you scream within your sleep,
screaming from the mountain top
that appears as you try to creep
out of the dream, out of the silence.

Oh, why can't life be simple and pure?
Why can't love be what you need
to make our lives an ending tour
of pain and endless greed?
That's what life is, love is harder.
