The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Where Frozen Embers Still Burn

To the first degree some embers still burn
chilled by harsh breathed words
Smoldering for a length of time
until a bought lesson is learned

To the second degree some embers still burn
iced as events go unchanged
Seething anger builds up within
until the release point is learned

To the third degree some embers still burn
freezing in remembrances hand
Simmering thoughts, ...unresolved,
until the “letting go of” is learned

To the fourth degree some embers still burn
frozen fresh in memories churn
treasured cinders held within
these are the embers love earned

Dear Debra, I really like the way you built from the first degree to the fourth degree. Once we have learned to "leg go," we are free to cherish memories of love that has left our lives. Outstanding write! Congratulations on your win! Love, Carolyn

To live and love, forgive and forget. Sometimes takes time for life to set. Each new day brings a fading past. Of pain and hate that mustn't last. So glad you've found you way back Debra. I've missed you. :) Peace.
