Notes About The Poem

Where Beavers and Bullfrogs are Kings

In the pond, where beavers and bullfrogs are kings,
a duck has webbed feet and wings and things.
He quacks aloud instead of sings -
on his face, a useful tool...called a bill. He ain't no fool.
When he blows that thing, he really swings,
in the pond, where beavers and bullfrogs are kings.

I enjoy the pastoral picture you have described. I don't see as many ponds as I did year's ago. I long for the farmlands of yesteryear.

You can't beat nature and the outdoors. Ever read The Yearling?
