Where Are We

WHERE ARE WE  ?

Sometimes I wake from a shallow sleep
And wonder where I am, for the truth is deep.
This is not new, and I am not from old age abused
My children were always amused
When it happened during their small years long ago
And now they know it is constantly so.
I am in Russia in geographical terms cold -
In a large city which is very old;
But my soul a living memory retains
Of the Canadian Rocky Mountains
On the day we were married
And my bride proudly I carried;
And in my heart I’m forever with my children all
When they were very small
And running down the driveway flinging
Themselves on me every evening;
In my mind I’m going to build us a cabin
In the woods of Vermont when we’re spendin’
Our evenings looking for a shooting star,
And reflecting on where we really are.
