Where All Hopes Lie
I've felt lost lately within my sinful, sacred skin,
remembering, distant family and dear old friends...
rudderless, adrift in waves and winds.
Having traveled to far too many places,
laughed and smiled with countless faces
while running endless races.
So many I can't recall
the number of rises and falls
following a distant call...
Collecting a measure of treasures like books on shelves
holding the keys to one's true self
while tossing coins into a wishing well.
Still, stuck in the past
where nothing lasts
awaiting the last gasp
Of clean fresh air
from blue skies where
all hopes and dreams arise and fly, eternally
up there.
