When You Wish Upon a Star

I was always told
Wish on the first evening star
It was magical
Mystical beyond imagination
It glows bright in the new night’s sky
Surrounded by darkness
It stands alone among millions
A billion eyes look at it
Watching and praying
A million wishes
Traverse space and time
Trying to find that single star
So that maybe
If that one star is gracious enough
A single wish will be granted
And that one evening star
Magical and mystical
So far away will make one person happy
Just by granting a single wish
