Author's Notes: "When You Truly Love Someone" is a Didactic poem that I completed on December 1, 2017. I wrote this verse to highlight some of the principal attributes or aspects that one might expect to see and experience during the process when that person (or any other person for that matter) has been smitten by Cupid's arrow and has fallen deeply in love with someone else, whether it be of an immediate nature or something more long term. To add some historical literary flavor to this selection, I decided to include some memorable thoughts about "True Love," which I was able to extract from the famous "Sonnet 116" that William Shakespeare had written and published in the year of 1609. I inserted this additional information into the text immediately after my initial didactic verse to add some heft and articulation in support of my viewpoint. Enjoy the read!! When You Truly Love Someone
When you truly love someone . . .
Do so with all your heart!
Do so with real passion,
Do so with true emotion,
Do so with your warmest smile,
Do so with palpable pleasing thoughts,
Do so with an aura of poetic enchantment,
And do it always for love!
And be not ever afraid of doing this,
Whilst seeking divine help from
The Angels high in Heaven above!
I beseech thee, in this vein, always to remember . . .
Some memorable thoughts taken from Shakespeare’s
Sonnet 116, from the year of 1609:
“True love is everlasting.”
“True love is an ever-fixed mark,”
“That looks on tempests and is never shaken;”
“True love’s worth cannot be measured.”
With such graceful thoughts here from Shakespeare,
Need I say more?
Amen.
