When what would be is what should be
There is within each human heart
a yearning for a fresh new start.
When things would be as they should be
And what is good is all we see.
We wish that justice would be swift,
but like a log, it often drifts
and when at last it lands ashore,
the outcomes leave us wanting more.
We want nature to be pristine
for air and water to be clean.
For famines, floods, and droughts to cease
and humankind to live in peace.
Oh, how we wish life would be fair
and everyone would have their share
when few have most and many none
as a condition, will be done.
We wish for many happy years
to live forever without tears.
To never tire or get sick
or ever need a walking stick.
We desire child abuse to cease
and love and goodwill to increase.
A world where everyone is kind
where life is no longer a grind.
But such a world could never be
while we are not what we should be.
As human beings, we’re flawed within,
that’s why the world is filled with sin.
The world we seek will one day be
when this old world from sin is free.
Creator God will make things new,
sinners and sin He’ll destroy too.
If you want in on what would be,
let God make you what you should be.
When what would be, is what should be
You will be there, the good you’ll see.
