When the Shadow's Left, and Not the Man

When the shadow's left, and not the man,
When only embers can recall the flame;
When only stones where once a river ran,
When beating heart becomes a distant name:

Then do not think too long upon the past,
Then is then, and now must have its due;
Then think a flower may bloom, but cannot last,
Then turn your mind unto the moment new.
