When the Past Lives On In Memory

Dreading up the past
when the past has left us behind

Dredging up the past
when it insists on being left buried

Fledgling future is waiting to be born
when death refuses to let go of life's big toe

Pledging the future to be more forgiving
when memory works all to well for the living.
