When the Dance Is Done

When the music of the dance is over
and all the melodies have ceased playing
why do you hurriedly quick step away
with nothing that remains here between us
no single reason left to feel or stay?

How quickly flowed years of time slipping by
to echo of laughter and fearful tears
as life turned to its count and measuring
experiences, unwanted goodbyes
when music of the dance is over, done?
