When Midnight Weeps

The alley shivers under broken light, puddles cradle forgotten stars, midnight forgets to weep.

Maybe midnight forgets to weep because it's so used to the memory, of rain, of puddles...where the stars stay.

Paige, your words are poetry in themselves… “Maybe midnight forgets to weep because it’s so used to the memory”--what a beautiful, aching thought. I love how you saw the rain and the stars still holding space. Thank you for adding that shimmer to the silence.

Night has never dreamed of Day, neither of wide lit warmth, nocturnal attitude does not ask for revelations in simple sight, Midnight marvels only at madness made miracle...J.A.B.

Justin, you always leave a trail of stars in the dark. That line--“Midnight marvels only at madness made miracle”--feels like it belongs in the marrow of the poem itself. You understand the beauty that lives where the light doesn’t reach, and it’s an honor to have When Midnight Weeps reflect something back to you. Thank you for sharing your midnight voice with mine.
