When Lightning Strikes
When lightning strikes and strike it will,
we cannot help but stop, stand still,
ponder whom we the credit give,
for the pleasant, peaceful life we live.
When just a routine doctor’s trip
brings news that makes our spirit dip,
fate changes our mentality,
as we face our mortality.
When one we love suddenly dies,
like helpless prey, our sad heart cries,
We sober up and start to think,
how life can end fast as a blink.
When like Job, we lose all our wealth,
and fate comes and steals our health,
daily life seems like a bad dream,
an engine running out of steam.
When lightning strikes it pays to know,
the One from whom all blessings flow,
who knows the number of our days,
and bids us follow wisdom’s ways.
