When Light Returns
Loneliness teases like looming shadows on winter's floor
As darkness settles in and closes the door
Like a thief, it takes the light that was shown
To create a reminder of being alone
A heavy heart isn't always easy to lift
Empty hands once held dreams, through fingers they sift
Old pictures and things, longing for change
Waiting for time to come around and rearrange
Like thoughts that are stuck in places unknown
The new will come, when light returns to be shown
