When It's Over
Walk away they said!
Walk away,
He's not worth the salt
Put in his bread.
Walk away, you are beautiful
And smart...
Those are the same words
He whispered...Of course,
They couldn't have known.
Stop looking so sad, they
Cautioned, try a smile on for sie,
Raise your head, dry your eyes.
Sure it will hurt for a day or two
Maybe three, but at least you are free.
"Free to be me!"
Danced around in my head, with
Another chant, "Don't be afraid!"
They had no way to know, I didn't
Want you to go.
I crave your touch!
I want you too much!
"Get a new start!" urged family
And friends, with such urgency
On the telephone.
"Come out for lunch!"
"Come have a drink!"
"No need for you to be alone!"
"Stop that crying, you're not dying!"
They had no way of knowing,
It just wasn't showing!
