When I Was Young

Tell me a story
Do you remember the one
From my childhood

Do you remember
How the story went back then
I can remind you

It felt like a dream
Whenever you would tell me
Of when I was young

How, always, I played
I was such a happy child
Always full of joy

How you loved the times
When we would chase each other
When I was a child

Every now and then
I would fall and hurt myself
You were always there

You comforted me
And you always held me close
It was wonderful

How I miss those days
When I could be in the sun
And see your face shine

But now I am old
Bed-ridden and so frail
I can't go outside

I am not a child
But I can still remember
The stories you tell

Of the times of yore
Of the happiest child
Back when I was young
