When I Was Very Young

When I was very young
My mother do tell me the tales of
throng
she taught me how to sing
sincere songs
and to choose the rights and
reject wrongs

I grew up with care and
kindness
Amidst children that are helpless,
homeless
I do lend my humble heart and
lovely lens
As I taught them the pride of
pen and poems

my mother taught me to live,
love and learn
that life is not all about what we
earn.
Yet I often yell, yawn, yelp and
yearn
To earn from what we I am yet
to
learn

Back in the days… I was taught
to pray
Yet I do not stop to play… going
astray
After burning my strength all
through the day
My mum put me in at
moonlight to lay

very unique in the phrasing...I think the line sequence should be different in the last verse. start with "strength" (line 3) next "play..astray" (line 2) next "cot..lay" (line 4) Last "Back in the days… I was thought to pray"(line 1) Light & Love

Peace proves hard to come by with so much devastation and hardship. Somehow, the comfort of home, even in a warzone, can provide the human refuge needed. This one resonates with me, Adeleke! Regards, John.
