When I Was a Kid..

When I was a kid...
we had imaginations.
Anything was possible in our eyes.
The sky was the limit.
We could touch the stars,
and fly like eagles.

But I never learned..
that the real world can being you down
in a matter of seconds.

When I was a kid...
we would fall off our bikes,
and then jump rightback on and try again.
Without fear, or pain.

But I never learned...
that love is not like a bike.
It's much harder to try again.

When I was a kid...
we thought boys had cooties.

But I never learned...
that one day we would fall in love
with a cootie infested boy
and he would break my heart.
