When I Recognized Myself

Put away inside
Told to stay alive
Lost in all but name
Nothing seems the same
Expected to survive
When life is so contrive
Alone at night and day
Taking part as slaves
We run we run we run
Only to end up
Put away inside
Put away inside
Put away inside
And our minds rot
And our minds clot
And our minds’ clock,
         stop

Feels like running in a rat race. Well done, Susan
