When I Grow Up

When I grow up, I want to be President of my country Or maybe I'll be a public defender To fight injustice, and predatory lenders Perhaps a doctor without borders I'll be Saving lives of poor people for free I might even become an urban engineer Designing safe cities to live in, without any fear Of course, I haven't yet mentioned becoming wealthy Or devoting my life to staying fit and healthy But of all the choices ever presented to me "Parent" has never been in any of the categories

It is hilarious because "parent" is something that pops up and does not take a mere eighteen years. It takes the REST of our lives. No one understands this at the time. Ha!
