When Hummingbirds Laugh

Larger than raindrops, with wee sword-like beaks, A hummingbird laughs, but the bird never speaks. They flit and they dart, and they never stand still. They're wings are mystic, per each quivering quill. The hummingbird's laughing while airborne in place, Wings flapping like static, and suspended in space. Watch avian magic, see nature's winged might, They're elegant creatures that can hover in flight. Who claims Mother Nature has no sense of delight? She snickers at hummingbirds laughing in flight. What's really strange about this magical bird? It's always laughing, but it's never been heard. The secret of its laughter, like the secret of its flight, Has everybody guessing, but no one gets it right Maybe that's the secret only hummingbirds share, The fact that their laughter...dissolves in t he air.
