When Foods Were Not Called Super

When foods were not called super,
Many more had them for their supper.

When foods were not called super,
Prices were cheaper.

When foods were not called super,
Nutrition fared the better.

When foods were not called super,
Substitutes were fewer.

When foods were not called super,
Food fights in court were rarer.

When foods were not called super,
What was on the label did not tell us a whopper.

When foods were not called super,
It was a better time to be a shopper.

When foods were not called super,
I could afford to invite you to supper.

Love this write! I find it crazy how “super” markets push the items that are not healthy…buy 3 for this great price but things that are healthy you have to pay out the nose…

When I was growing up we used to buy tomatoes and apricots by the case and honey was always there for the toast. My grandfather had a bakery and their basic loaf was a milk loaf. Don't get me started on the price of milk. We are lucky we have a garden for fresh vegies and peach and pear trees. I grew up when NZ was one big village. but their small signs that we are waking up to our mistakes. Regards David

Glad someone else has a weird sense of humor. It proves I am not the only one trying to stay sane in an upside down world where most decide to join those who can't see the funny side of life and take themselves too seriously. One can understand why but it may not be too late to reinstate laughter as a super medicine. Although they have canned it All the best David in NZ.
